You may have thought that Credit Unions were for 'other' people when it comes to borrowing or saving. However, you may be surprised at what the St Albans District Credit Union can offer YOU.


Any one who lives and/or works in Hertfordshire is eligible to apply for membership of the St Albans District Credit Union.

To apply for membership - complete a copy of the application form and post it or hand it to a Credit Union volunteer at the Hatfield Road office or other customer centre, together with evidence of identity and current address.

To confirm membership a non refundable administration fee of £2 and an initial savings deposit of at least £1 is required.   You will be issued with a Credit Union Pass Book to record savings and loans balances.

Apart from the £2 initial joining fee, there are no annual or monthly fees as a credit union member. However to defray administrative costs, the Credit Union Board reserves the right to make a small charge (maximum £5) where a member’s account has a continuing low balance and has been inactive over a twelve month period (savings or loans). The member will be given at least one month’s notice in writing of the intention to make such a charge and the criteria involved.


Younger Savers

A  special section exists for those below the age of 16 years and Treasure Chest Junior Savers Clubs operate within several Primary Schools in St Albans District.

We welcome application for companies and other organisations to become members.

Volunteer

 We are run by volunteers who enable us to continue to support local people.  Could you join our band of helpers?  We would be pleased to hear from people who could help out at one of our customer centres, liaise with one of our Treasure Chest schools, champion a payroll saving scheme with your employer or help by distributing leaflets, etc.  We also sometimes have a need for people with specific skills (e.g.  IT, social media, Sales, etc.).
